Blog meet paper; paper, blog.

Today I made myself a snack in the break room at work and while the naan was toasting, I sauntered over to the table and picked up the paper. I read through the Edge and skimmed the front page, but when my naan was done, there I sat with nothing interesting to do while I ate. I flipped through the sections looking for anything interesting and stumbled on an article about Bob Edwards's new home on XM radio. Being a big fan of Morning Edition and having experienced the shock and confusion at his sudden ousting, it piqued my interest. The story was what it was. Nothing fancy, just a story. Later it occurred to me that I had stumbled upon a blog post that happened to be jammed in amidst a bunch of other blog posts which were then formatted, printed on paper, and folded up. Perhaps not quite as accessible as I'm used to—RSS via Bloglines—but in this circumstance it happened to be the most convenient medium. I just found it interesting that in a short span of time, I'd gone from comparing RSS to the paper to comparing the paper to RSS. After all was said and done, was it worth the material and printing cost to put that blog post on the table? Changing times.
